Generic Url Creator (GUC) is a Firefox extension that creates a URL from the text you select (i.e. use to lookup definitions, or perform a search). You can edit the list via the use of regular expressions.

I use the GUC but it can only work when the selected text is in the browser.
Does anyone know an extension to GUC which has a textbox or puts a popup to enter the text ?

you can use firefox bookmarks to achieve that. If you create a new bookmark usng the bookmark manager, you will see a "keyword" field.
